Leica BLK 360 and Matterport Camera Integration

We live in a beautiful sun-filled town and have discovered some short-comings with the Matterport Camera due to its Infrared Sensors being sensitive to REFLECTION, POOLS and DIRECT SUNLIGHT.

Therefore, working in Puerto Vallarta is one of the most difficult places to shoot exteriors simply with the Matterport camera. The Leica BLK 360 faces no such obstacles due to its superior technology being able to shoot full-color panoramic images in direct sunlight.

Simply put:

If you own a house with a large exterior property- the Matterport camera will make it impossible to seamlessly shoot and obtain high end quality photos you would expect. Mostly, getting your money’s worth of the 3D imaging you expected.

How do we do it?

We integrate scanning with both the new Matterport 2D PRO for interior spaces and the Leica BLK 360 to capture the infinite beauty of the exterior of your property especially seen in Puerto Vallarta.

The Leica BLK360 captures the world around you with full-color panoramic images overlaid on a high-accuracy point cloud. Simple to use with just the single push of one button, the BLK360 is the smallest and lightest of its kind. Anyone who can operate an iPad can now capture the world around them with high resolution 3D panoramic images.

Using the ReCap Pro mobile app, the BLK360 streams image and point cloud data to iPad. The app filters and registers scan data in real time. After capture, ReCap Pro enables point cloud data transfer to a number of CAD, BIM, VR and AR applications. The integration of BLK360 and Autodesk software dramatically streamlines the reality capture process thereby opening this technology to non-surveying individuals.

To date, the BLK360 has earned several prestigious industry awards in Europe as well as globally including the ‘2017 Product Innovation of the Year’ recognition at both the London Construction Awards and the Building Awards in the UK and the best ‘Digital, BIM & New Technology’ at the Mondial du Bâtiment Innovation Awards in France.

 The BLK360’s stated range of 196 ft (60m) and its ability to operate in direct sunlight makes it the ideal capture option for large open areas such as the outdoor parts of construction sites, large warehouses, shopping malls, stadiums, and factories, as well as facades of commercial buildings. This range has allowed the distance between captures to be as much as 50 feet in early tests, which will enable operators to quickly move the scanner through larger areas.

For BLK360 users, using the Matterport Capture app improves turn around time, removes human error, and automates the auto stitching, cutting down significantly on the post-processing time.

In the real estate industry, it is well known that properties presented well both in advertising and in person will attract serious buyers. Whether dealing with a small unit or a large property, the marketing plan needs to match and with clued-in buyers doing plenty of research before even contacting agents, that marketing plan needs to be on song from the first day the property goes on the market.

Our aerial videos will show off the exterior of your home, giving prospective buyers, tenants and holiday travelers the ability to see your home and the grounds using our distinctive cinematic style.

Video is captured by a remote operated drone. We will set up the drone to depart at specific locations within your property. The drone will capture views of your property that otherwise would never be seen. Drone shots have increased in popularity. By offering an expansive view of the entire house including its community.

Footage takes up to 2 hours to shoot. Be mindful that anything happening in your area will be seen by a wide angle camera lens. If there is any work being performed at a neighboring home, or a crowd gathering for an event, all of these will be seen by camera. It is preferable that your home is vacant on the outside however it can be staged to your liking.

Footage is shot in 4K and edited on Final Cut Pro and can take up to 2 weeks for turn around time. It can be presented via an URL or a physical media. Remember that homes presented via URL will allow a potential client to view it online!
